In dit stuk tekst wordt het voor mij duidelijk waarom architecten met verhoudingen en proporties werkten om perfectie en natuurlijke schoonheid na te streven zoals de schepping zelf. Alberti maakt hier ook een mooie verwijzing naar het menselijke lichaam. De verhoudingsleer is immers in de gehele kosmos terug te vinden. Schoonheid = Orde, en die orde is in een vaste verhouding terug te vinden tot in de eeuwigheid.
